Judy Bappe, 1941 – 2022

Judy Jean Bappe of Bella Vista, AR, passed away March 12, 2022, with her husband by her side.  She was 81.  She was born February 22, 1941, in Scranton, to Edward and Doris Tolsdorf.  

A Celebration of Judy’s life in conjunction with a Celebration of her brother’s life (Tom Tolsdorf) will be held Saturday, June 4, at the Scranton Community Center in Scranton, with Chaplain Angelo Luis officiating. 

Judy married Larry Bappe of Nevada, IA, on November 19, 1961. Judy was a certified financial planner, small business owner, and earned her bachelor of arts in computer information systems at age 53 after raising her children. She was an avid reader and an accomplished bridge player. She was awarded the rank of Life Master by the American Contract Bridge League in 2015.  

Judy will be missed by husband Larry; sons Michael (Kim) of Loveland CO, Ed (Kemlyn) of Phoenix, AZ, and Drew Bappe of Cherokee, NC; sisters Jane (Richard) Gallentine of Conrad, Sharon (Ed Sugrue) Tolsdorf of Brewster, MA, and Margie Tolsdorf of Scranton; beloved grandchildren Morgan, Josh, Jodie, Cay, Dot, Dietrich, Jessi, Ben, Francois, Andre, and Casey; and great-grandchildren Olivia, Charlee and Bo.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jim (Ann) Tolsdorf and Tom Tolsdorf, and daughter-in-law Nikki Bappe.

In lieu of flowers, Judy’s family suggests supporting organizations aimed at increasing access to education for women, in particular P.E.O. International.
